What is an Open Car Carrier?

An open car transport carrier is the most common type of car transport carrier in the industry, and the ones that we work with most often when it comes to transporting vehicles. There are literally thousands of different carriers out there that can transport your vehicle, so we work to find ones in your area that are highly rated and recommended. Open carriers can transport, typically, up to ten vehicles at one time, which keeps prices low and pickup windows lower as they can move around the country quickly, going from one pickup to another and one drop off to another.

Most vehicles are shipped on an open carrier because of how cheap they are. Some vehicles may need an enclosed transport truck to ship them without fear of damage, as open transport does leave the vehicles open to the elements. Damage happens on less than 5% of all transported vehicles per year, and with close to a million cars being moved around each year that’s a surprisingly low number of vehicles to be damaged during transport. And even if damage does occur, your transport carrier’s insurance company will be obligated to cover the cost of repairs.
