A Brief History of Denver
- The city of Denver is the largest in the state of Colorado. It also serves as Colorado’s state capital, and today is home to over 634,000 residents. Denver was founded as a small mining town in the late 1850’s; population growth was relatively slow at the beginning, but from 1870 to 1880 the city’s population exploded by over 630%, and by the turn of the 20th century it was bustling center home to over 133,000 residents. Denver played a crucial role as a supply town during the latter parts of westward expansion during the 1860’s and 1870’s, though many people chose to stay in Denver to try and make their fortunes in the surrounding Rocky Mountains. What to Expect When Shipping to or from Denver
- Denver played a vital role in western expansion and has maintained its status as a major transportation hub in the region. Though today Denver’s metropolitan area is a sprawl of growth from Fort Collins to Colorado Springs, it is still not an incredibly easy area for auto transporters to get to or from, especially from the west. Denver is serviced by I-70, a major east-west interstate, as well as I-25, a relatively minor yet still highly used interstate connecting Denver to several east-west interstates both north and south of the city. Denver will likely be cheaper to ship to from the east and will likely be a bit easier to find a shipper in the summer and fall months, as the city does see a fairly significant amount of snowfall during almost every winter. With rough weather in the winter comes difficulty running certain routes, and as Denver sits literally at the eastern foothills of the Rocky Mountains, it’s not surprising that many shippers would decline a trip through the high passes of western Colorado, though some may brave the trek if the price is right. Keep that in mind when it comes to transporting your vehicle there, but most importantly give us a call and speak to your representative about transport to and from the city for more accurate information about your specific shipping locations and needs.
